A challenging event such as London-Edinburgh-London requires a few tricks to avoid wimping out before even seeing the start. One of first tricks to use is to voice your intentions to your friends, family etc... Then you have to enter.
I have now done that on both counts. I have also booked accommodation at the start and finish. I am nervously awaiting confirmation from the organiser Melita Luxton.

I raved about The Science of Sleep last night so tonight, I am going to watch another film... Iwo Jima. WWII from the Japanese viewpoint. A Clint Eastwood film.
I am in Edinburgh on business until Friday with nothing else to do other than pottering about my room in the evenings...
Then... I may be starting to read The Crow Road by Iain Banks.
I have not received a formal notfication but it looks like payment has been taken of my account. That means I am in!
Better start training now and avoid fizzling it out like I did with Bedford Harriers Half Marathon.
That said... even with the best will in the world I would have missed out as my car's battery turned out to be flat on the day of the event.
Deadline for Ballot Entries to take part in the Edinburgh Marathon has passed on 1st December. Mmm... I don't know when the results from the ballot will be announced.
