This morning I was chatting about how quickly the mighty Fred Whitton challenge is approaching. Al mentioned he has 1000 miles on so far this year but was fearing this year's Fred like never before. Stu has 900 odd miles. I said I probably had 600. I was wrong. 928 miles so far. Quietly pleased about that. I am not saying that I am going to be cocky when considering the upcoming Fred Whitton though. It is a hard one even with good riding conditions. I am just a little more prepared.
Well, I am in Oxford. Convenient place to attend a few meetings this week in Wallingford (x2), Reading and London. Good to see familiar faces and places.
The unplanned (5)4-a-side football game was fun. First footie game for many weeks.
I have to say I have been avoiding playing week in week out. Squash 2 or 3 times a week, cycling on Sundays as enough to get me going. I find that Football on top of that is not good for recovery nor for my knees.
Tonight I was in Jericho attending a gig by Malcolm Middleton. M.M. was completely unknown to me until Yesterday's prod and invitation by Tim to book an entry. It was a good gig by any mean featuring songs about red travelling socks (sic), realising you have no future, being a shite singer as well as we are all going to die all alone and listening too much downbeat music (aka. M. Middleton) etc... Bizarre to find such morose, cynical themes so uplifting. A good night.
Blue skies, very little wind, no frost and early start of the day. Perfect conditions for a short but hilly ride to Jubilee tower and back.

Right... I will try to keep a log of the club runs on my blog from now. Blog that has not seen any updates since January. What a disgrace ;-)
Today was a group of about 10 people from the Lune. A good run that took us to Cockerham, Great Eccleston, Scorton (cafe stop at the Priory... mmmm.... beans of toast...), back north to Quernmore valley. I shortened my run as I turn left towards Lancaster leaving the group to carry on towards Caton and beyond. It's Easter Sunday after all.
A good ride with some sunshine, no rain/snow and some moderate wind on the Ribble.
Next week will be a ride in the Lakes with a route devised by Rick's friends. They have devised a route of 50-60 miles with many steep hills. Some sort of Fred Whitton training ride. I hope they're not too fast riders ;-)
